Since 1996 the bureau has provided a full advice service for clients with severe and enduring mental health problems.
We had to scale back the service in 2009 when six years of Big Lottery funding came to an end, but a grant from Lloyds TSB Foundation for England and Wales enabled us to keep a reduced service going. In January 2010 we received the good news that additional funding from NHS Surrey had been secured. This enabled the service to increase its hours again, to take on more clients and recommence our hospital outreach, though we are still some way short of the ongoing funding that we need to sustain the service.
In 2011 we received additional funding from Toyota(GB) which helped keep the service going.
Every year we ask a sample of clients of our mental health service to complete a satisfaction survey. We also ask referrers (those who refer people to our service) to complete a similar survey on the difference that we make to their patients' lives.
The 2010 client survey results may be viewed here. All of those who completed the survey felt that we had helped to improve their quality of life by reducing anxiety, increasing their income and/or assisting with debt problems
